The Hiram High Band of Gold Boosters, Inc. provides financial and other support to the Hiram High School Music Program. Parents and other adults legally responsible for students enrolled in Hiram High’s music program are members of the Booster organization. The Boosters welcome family and friends as supporters and members, but not as officers of the organization.
Booster members pay fees that are used to pay multiple non-faculty music instructors; fund band camp; purchase and maintain instruments and other band equipment; purchase music; pay school bus drivers and fuel costs to transport the band to football games, competitions and other performance locations; purchase and maintain marching and concert uniforms; maintain liability insurance; maintain practice fields; pay competition entrance fees, and more.
Music instructors for band camp or for year-long instruction and assistance are selected by the music department faculty; instructor rates are set by the Georgia High School Music Educators Association. Band Boosters do not participate in the design of the music curriculum or in the selection of instructors, these being activities appropriately vested in the faculty.
The Booster organization elects officers in the spring of each year. For the 2008-09 year, the Hiram High Band of Gold Booster Officers are:
Co-Presidents: Tena Pulley and Mike Monahan
Vice-president: Janet Alcorn
Treasurer: Marsha West
Student Accounts: DeeAnna McGarity
Secretary: Tina Auchenpaugh
